Leading French business daily Les Echos publishes op-ed co-authored by 12 BSP signatories

On December 8, 2021, France’s leading business daily Les Echos published an op-ed co-authored by 12 of the Biotech Social Pact signatories.

They call for policymakers to both place biomedical innovation at the heart of France’s healthcare system and start a truly inclusive dialogue with pharmaceutical industry, involving not only its historical stakeholders, but also and above all emerging French and international biotech companies, now accounting for 70% of new innovative treatments.

Co-authors of the op-ed include André Choulika (Chairman & CEO of Cellectis), Marc Le Bozec (Fund Manager at Financière Arbevel), Georges Rawadi (Former CEO of Ysopia Bioscience), Thomas Ybert (CEO of DNA Script), Xavier Duportet (Co-founder & CEO of Eligo Bioscience), John Crowley (Chairman & CEO of Amicus Therapeutics), Daniel A. de Boer (CEO of ProQR Therapeutics), Paul Hastings (CEO of Nkarta Therapeutics), Jeremy Levin (Chairman & CEO of Ovid Therapeutics), John Maraganore (Former CEO of Alnylam Pharmaceuticals), Onno Van De Stolpe (CEO of Galapagos) and Tim Van Hauwermeiren (CEO of argenx).

The Biotech Social Pact gathers CEOs and leaders of biotech and life sciences who are committed to working alongside high-level policymakers and health authorities to sustainably grow the biotech ecosystem whilst ensuring timely and widespread access to innovative treatments for patients and health systems across Europe. The Biotech Social Pact does not necessarily reflect the policies or positions of the agencies, organizations, employers, or companies with which the signatories are affiliated. United in upholding common principles and beliefs, our members are diverse assembly of leading organisations that are often not represented in trade associations, including pre- and early commercial companies, venture capital firms and individual industry leaders. The BSP is not a trade association and coexists alongside existing biopharma trade associations. It aims at offering a supporting voice to emerging and rapidly growing global biotech companies and to contribute to awareness of biotech and support the biotech ecosystem at large. Up until 2023, the Biotech Social Pact was managed by Portland, a global Public Affairs company, with the financial support of Alnylam Pharmaceuticals, Amicus and argenx.
